Viewing the Eclipse

Viewing a Partial Eclipse

Pick up viewer or glasses.
Look at the ground or straight ahead.
Put on glasses. Bring viewer to face.
Look at Sun. Eclipse travels slowly.
Remember to blink. Look, don’t stare.
Look down, then remove glasses or viewer.
Repeat every 5-10 minutes until totality.

Viewing Totality

Totality begins @ 1:15 p.m.
1. At T-3 minutes, look with viewer for Baily’s Beads.
2. At T-1 minutes, look for “Diamond Ring.”
When the brightness goes out: REMOVE GLASSES OR VIEWERS
3. Enjoy! Sun’s corona will be @ as bright as full moon.
4. When the Diamond Ring comes over the right moon horizon, put glasses or viewers back on.
